This work integrates documentary photography and amateur drawings. For six months, I shadowed A-ce and A-Zhan, two boys living with severe autism. Suffering from impaired linguistic ability, they are effectively unable to communicate orally. However, they adore painting, including on the walls of their house. Through my encounters with them, I’ve attempted to capture the silent sounds behind their beings. In this collision of disparate visual shapes, I aim to portray the speech that those suffering from autism may never be able to express, while also commenting on traditional Taiwanese expectations of what constitutes a “normal family”, and the unfathomable stress these expectations can give rise to. An extension of previous works, this project maintains similar form: I continue to explore the possibilities of co-creation with subjects in photography. In fact, I’m using this collective method of creation to explore the creative process. Is the creation of art limited to those who have received special training? Also, how does one liberate one’s own creativity.

Un père, atteint d’un cancer des poumons, élève seul ses deux enfants autistes depuis dix ans. Les deux garçons n’ont jamais véritablement communiqué avec les autres, incapables d'utiliser le langage de manière formelle. Pourtant, malgré leur profond silence, quelque chose résonne en permanence. Mon objectif en les rencontrant est de documenter ce son invisible qui émane de leur être. Pour ce projet, j’ai passé six mois en immersion à leurs côtés. Afin de saisir leur monde intérieur, j’ai adopté une approche hybride combinant photographie documentaire, croquis amateurs et archives. En réunissant ces différents supports, je souhaite décrire la confusion et la douleur qu'ils ressentent inévitablement face aux attentes de la société chinoise traditionnelle envers une famille « normale ». J’ai observé cette tension profonde entre l’incapacité à communiquer des personnes autistes et la pression sociale écrasante qui en découle. Dans la continuité de mes projets documentaires précédents, je poursuis ma démarche en explorant les possibilités de collaboration avec des amateurs dans la création photographique. À travers ce projet, je m’interroge encore : qu’est-ce que l’art ? L’art est-il réservé à ceux qui ont reçu une formation spécifique ? Comment libérer la créativité ?

結合紀實攝影和素人繪畫，我花了六個月的時間，跟拍兩位重度自閉症的男孩阿策與阿湛。不曾與人溝通的他們，幾乎沒有使用語言的能力，但卻熱愛繪畫，用畫筆塗滿家中每一面牆。與他們的相遇，我試圖捕捉他們的存在背後那沉默的聲音。藉由不同視覺形式間的碰撞，我想要描繪自閉症患者永說不出口的話，以及台灣傳統社會對正常家庭的期待，以及它所創造出無邊的壓迫。延續先前的作品，依循著相似的形式，我持續探索在攝影中與素人共同創作的可能性。事實上，藉由這樣的創作手法，我想知道究竟什麼是藝術創作？藝術只屬於受過特殊訓練的人嗎？一個人的創造力究竟是如何被解放的？
